There are mixed feelings in the camp of Nottingham Forest following the latest update on the injury status of Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

The forward has been out due to injury since the beginning of this month. The injury made him miss the game against Crystal Palace and the international break.

Undoubtedly, the team has missed his services following his excellent start to the season.

Steve Cooper would be eager for his star forward, who was nominated for the EPL Player of the month of August, to return to action.

Taiwo Awoniyi is close to a return from an injury that has sidelined him for a couple of weeks.

The former Union Berlin striker was due to be out for about a month, but latest reports suggest his recovery is ahead of schedule.

Taiwo Awoniyi was spotted in a workout on grass, indicating he is close to full recovery.

According to Forest manager Steve Cooper, Taiwo Awoniyi is not far off from training and will be assessed next week to ascertain his return date.

While Taiwo Awoniyi is progressing well from injury, Nottingham Forest has concerns in other areas.

Steve Cooper said Serge Aurier was injured in week eight and remains doubtful for this weekend. The coach also stated that Argentine right-back Gonzalo Montiel suffered a calf injury while on international duty.

Ola Aina, Nuno Tavares, Danilo and Felipe remain out.

He suffered a groin injury during the 1-1 draw with Brentford. He suffered a similar problem last season, but it was on the opposite leg this time.

A knee issue prevented the defender from being involved in any of the Reds’ pre-season games, and he barely trained during the summer. He is yet to get on the pitch for the first team this season but was on the bench against Burnley in the Carabao Cup and at Chelsea.

Serge Aurier
Injury: Unknown
The defender seemed to pick up an injury in the first half against Palace. He received some treatment on the pitch and carried on until the break but was replaced by Gonzalo Montiel for the second half.
