Calls for a Victor Osimhen transfer to Chelsea have intensified, after the Blues suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday.

Chelsea fell to a third home defeat of the season as Brentford maintained their 100 per cent Premier League record at Stamford Bridge with a well-deserved 2-0 victory.

Ethan Pinnock profited from an outrageous defending by the hosts to head the visitors in front shortly before the hour mark after Mauricio Pochettino’s side had failed to take advantage of a first half in which they were on top of the game.

Robert Sanchez was then embarrassed in added time while trying to get his side's equalizer, failing to catch Neal Maupay as the Everton loanee broke with the ball, allowing Bryan Mbeumo to score in an empty net and secure the win.

The result comes as a setback for the Blues who were looking to build on the small momentum they have been able to gather so far.

We take a look at a number of reactions from the fans who were visibly angered by the outcome of the match, prompting the Blues to go all out for Osimhen – who is not settled in Napoli at the moment.

Chelsea need a clinical striker

Chelsea’s attack has not been the same for some seasons now despite a number of changes to test things out. At some point, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz were leading the line but they were largely wasteful in front of goal.

At the moment, they have Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja. Jackson has already missed seven big chances in the Premier League, while Broja had not been a regular.

Both strikers combined have just three goals in the Premier League this season, while Osimhen has already scored six times in just 8 Serie A appearances – confirming how good he has been in front of goal this term.

“Osimhen does absolutely nothing against Brentford’s low block”

Another Chelsea fan has argued that Osimhen would have struggled against the low block of Brentford earlier today.

To a great extent Brentford's low block was perfectly executed and Chelsea had no answers as they could not create enough chances.

However, Osimhen’s profile does not entirely need a chance to be created for him before he gets a goal. If Chelsea manage to intensify their efforts to get the Nigerian, he's going to help solve their problems in attack.

Chelsea’s problem much bigger than Victor Osimhen

Another X user believes Chelsea’s issues are bigger than just bringing Victor Osimhen in.

He might be right because the Blues are no longer in Europe and cannot get things right on the home front as their struggles continue.

He went on to add that Chelsea is a development club which is not entirely true but it can be agreed that they have a young squad.

Osimhen, 24, is just entering the peak of his years and he could be an option regardless of the current date of things at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea need to make Osimhen transfer move

This user was quite direct with his point, stating the Blues need Osimhen.

Jackson, who came in from Villarreal in the summer can't be compared with the Nigerian as the difference is clear.

Osimhen, who has scored nearly 40 goals since the start of last season, could be the answer to Chelsea’s goal scoring issues.

Chelsea to spend big on Osimhen

Following another underwhelming performance in attack, another Chelsea fan has predicted that Chelsea will go all out for the Nigerian striker in the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old has not signed a new Napoli deal yet, so an Osimhen transfer for Chelsea cannot be ruled out yet.
