Liverpool hammer West Ham to go second on the table

Liverpool locked horns with West Ham in a Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

The match was a thrilling affair between both sides who went into the match in good form.

Jürgen Klopp's men however downed the Hammers in an entertaining match that ended 3-1 with Salah, Nunez and Jota scoring for Liverpool, while Bowen netted for David Moyes' side.

All Square at the Break

Liverpool began the match the better side, with a lot of pressure on the West Ham defense.

The early pressure cracked the Hammers as Salah was fouled by Aguerd in the box resulting in a penalty which Mo Salah dispatched in the 16th minute.

Having gone behind, West Ham tried to get back into the game as time watered down to the break and they did achieve that three minutes before half-time as Jarrod Bowen finished off a Coufal delivery.

At the break, Liverpool had 11 shots with 2 on target while West Ham registered 7 shots with 2 on target as well.

The Reds began the second half 1-1 and we're determined to take all three points in the match.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, Darwin Nunez put Liverpool ahead from a Mac Allister's assist.

The Hammers tried to restore parity once more like they did in the first half, but Liverpool's defense stood firm.

As the minutes rolled by, Kudus and Fornals entered the fray for West Ham while Gravenberch, Jota and Gakpo came on for the Reds.

However, it was Jota who had only been four minutes into the action who got the third goal for Klopp's men to all but settle the match. No further goals were scored as it ended 3-1.

At full-time, the Reds had registered a total of 22 shots in Sunday's game, with seven of those going on target. In contrast, West Ham managed 11 total shots, and only four of those went on target.

The result means that Liverpool have now picked four wins in their last four games against West Ham, and they're now second on the table with two points behind the league leaders, Man City.
