Mitoma double hands Brighton fifth league win of the season

Brighton welcomed Bournemouth to the American Express Community's Stadium in a Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

Following a disappointing 2-3 loss at home to AEK Athens in the Europa League last Thursday, Roberto De Zerbi's men turned on the style as they reacted positively to record a dominant 3-1 win over Bournemouth with Mitoma's double inspiring the side to the win.

Brighton are now third on the table with five wins out of six league games.

How did it happen?

Dominant Brighton went to the break 1-1

The Seagulls started strongly with some early pressure on the visitors. However, it was Bournemouth who took the lead in the 25th minute.

Christie won the ball from Verbruggen and Solanke lifted the ball into the back of the empty net to give the Cherries the lead against the run of play.

Brighton regrouped after going down and probed Bournemouth's defense on several occasions as time watered down to the break.

Nonetheless, their pressure paid off just before the break as Milos Kerkez turned the ball into his own net to level the scores for Brighton.

Kaoru Mitoma inspired Brighton to their fifth league win

A minute into the second half, Roberto De Zerbi introduced Kaoru Mitoma and Ansu Fati with Facundo and Ferguson making way for them.

The substitution proved a masterstroke!

Just seconds into the action, Mitoma scored from his first touch to hand Brighton a first time lead in the match following brilliant work from Ansu and Mo to set Mitoma free inside the box.

The Cherries tried to rally themselves back into the game but as much as they tried, the game looked beyond them.

In the 75th minute, Pervis raced clear down the left and clipped a perfect cross into the penalty area which Kaoru Mitoma finished with a glancing header to extend Brighton's lead.

Mitoma's second goal all but ended the contest as Brighton went on to maintain their lead until the match ended.

At full time, Brighton had 62 Percent ball possession and registered a total of 13 shots in the game, with four of those going on target. Meanwhile Bournemouth had 38 percent ball possession and let out 12 total shots, with four of them on target as well.

Unfortunately for Bournemouth, they weren't clinical enough like the host who converted their chances and took all the points.
