Arsenal played host to Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday in another Premier League derby showdown which finished 2-2 after 90 minutes.

The Gunners led on two occasions in a game that had a penalty, an own goal, and some well-taken goals. In summary, the game had everything.

Arsenal, who had won the past three meetings at home under Mikel Arteta, will be disappointed with the result, while Ange Postecoglou will be pleased with the performance of his boys in his first North London derby experience.

Here is a look at what transpired in the game, and especially a statistical review of what happened.

How it happened between Arsenal and Tottenham

The frenetic encounter saw the first North London derby of the season finish in an entertaining 2-2 draw.

Spurs defender Cristian Romero had an unforgettable afternoon as he directed a ball from Bukayo Saka into his own goal after 26 minutes, before handling the ball in the box in the second half. Well, Son Heung-min pulled the visitors level before the break.

From the Romero handball, which was later confirmed by VAR, Saka tucked home the penalty but seconds after the visitors were level once again. Son completed his brace to earn a point for his team.

A statistical review of Arsenal v Tottenham

The result between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur is the first time the Lilywhites have secured an away point at the Emirates since 2019.

Arteta and Arsenal may have lost some ground on Manchester City at the top of the PL but the draw extends their unbeaten run in all competitions to nine matches (W7, D2).

Arsenal and Tottenham have now drawn 24 Premier League games, against no other opponent has either side drawn more matches.

Following his brace against the Gunners at the Emirates, Son Heung-min became the first Tottenham player to score a brace away at Arsenal since John Hendry in a Premier League match in May 1993 – the first at the Emirates.

Tottehnham’s Romero also entered the history books for his own performance as he became the 11th player in Premier League history to score an own goal and give away a penalty in the same game, and the first Spurs player to do so.

On Arsenal’s side, Bukayo Saka made his 86th consecutive Premier League appearance for Arsenal, more than any other player in the club's history. Following his goal today, Saka has scored or assisted in every game at the Emirates so far this season.

What next after Arsenal v Tottenham

Attentions now turn to the Carabao Cup on Wednesday when Arsenal travel to Brentford for third-round action, while Tottenham, who are already out of the Carabao Cup, will be facing Liverpool in their next Premier League game.
