All eyes will be on the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium as Burundi and Namibia go toe-to-toe with each other in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers on Tuesday afternoon. Which of these teams will reign supreme after 90 minutes? Let's take a look at both teams' chances.

How Both Teams Measure up on the AFCON Qualifiers Table

It's important to point out that Burundi and Namibia were drawn alongside Cameroon and Kenya in Group C. However, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) was suspended by FIFA, which led to the disqualification of Kenya from the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). That said, unlike other groups, teams in Group C will play just four matches, rather than six.

As it stands, Namibia currently lead the group with five points from three matches played; they have a win and two draws so far, and are currently one point ahead of second-placed Cameroon. This will be Namibia's last qualifying game, and they'll guarantee a place in the next edition of the African Cup of Nations if they don't lose this match.

On the other hand, Burundi are currently in third-place; they are three points behind second-placed Cameroon, and four points behind group leaders Namibia. It may interest you to know that unlike today's opponents, Burundi still have two games left to play; as they'll face Cameroon in their final qualifying game. Etienne Nadyiragije's men have amassed just one point from two group matches so far, and have a -1 goal difference. On that note, Burundi need all the points they can get; as a loss would put a huge dent in their AFCON hopes.

This will be the fourth encounter between these teams in the last seven years. Both teams were previously drawn together in the 2016 AFCON Qualifiers, where they won one game apiece. In three previous clashes between these teams, both sides have one win, with a draw between them.

Prediction 1: Namibia To Open The Scoring

We would like to point out that Burundi have struggled to find their stride these past few months; they managed one win in their last six matches, with two draws and three losses. Interestingly, Etienne Nadyiragije's boys conceded the first goal in five of those six matches; this is in contrast with Namibia, who have a tendency to register the first goal when they play. As a matter of fact, Namibia drew first blood in five of their last six matches. Taking everything into account, we are fairly confident that the visitors will open the scoring today.

Prediction 2: Both Teams To Score

Burundi and Namibia squared off against each other three times in the past, and those encounters weren't one-sided in goal-scoring terms. It's worth mentioning that both teams got on the scoresheet every time these teams went head-to-head. In the same vein, all of Namibia's AFCON group games featured goals at both ends. We've already established that these teams met three times in the past; it's also fair to note that those matches saw more than three goals scored per game on average. Likewise, Burundi have been involved in their fair share of high-scoring matches; as their last four matches went above the 2.5 goal mark. For this reason, we should expect the goals to flow in this match.
