The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially unveiled Super Falcons‘ 24-woman squad that will represent the nation in the upcoming 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations first-round qualifying games against Sao Tome and Principe.

This announcement comes on the heels of the Nigerian women's commendable performance at the recent World Cup in New Zealand/Australia, where they finished among the top 10 countries.

With their sights set on a successful WAFCON qualifying campaign, the Super Falcons are determined to kick off on a strong note.

Nigeria's national women's football team, the Super Falcons, are eagerly anticipating their clash with the team from Central Africa Island on Friday, 22nd September at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

The squad is focused on securing a comprehensive victory in this crucial encounter.

The 2nd leg fixture is scheduled for Tuesday, 26th September, making these matches pivotal in the quest for a spot in the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

Meet the Super Falcons squad

The Super Falcons squad announced by the NFF includes a mix of experienced players and promising newcomers.

Notably, the 40-year-old Captain Onome Ebi is set to lead the Falcons in their pursuit of a 14th consecutive WAFCON appearance.

In addition to Ebi, Asisat Oshoala, the five time African Player of the Year experience will be vital for the team's success.

In addition to the familiar faces, the squad welcomes some fresh talent.
Among the new additions are:

  • Peace Efih: Sporting Braga in Portugal
  • Vivian Ikechukwu: Besiktas forward
  • Regina Otu: French-based talent

These new faces bring excitement and energy to the squad and will be pivotal in achieving the desired results in the qualifiers.

Notably, Ashleigh Plumptre, who recently made a move to the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad, will be absent from the lineup.

Additionally, players like Francisca Ordega, Osinachi Ohale, and Halimatu Ayinde have been excused from the upcoming game.
