The African Football League (AFL) excitement continues on Tuesday as South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns will play Atlético Petróleos de Luanda, 16-time Angolan champions in the concluding chapter of their clash.

This epic Mamelodi Sundowns vs Petro Atletico battle between giants of African football is scheduled for Tuesday, 24 October at 19:00 (South Africa Time) and will unfold at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

The AFL, which has a grand prize of $4 million for the inaugural tournament winners, has eight teams battling for glory as semi-final spots will be picked by the end of Wednesday. 

The teams are Al Ahly SC (Egypt), Enyimba FC (Nigeria), Espérance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia), Mamelodi Sundowns FC (South Africa), Atlético Petróleos de Luanda (Angola), Simba SC (Tanzania), TP Mazembe (DR Congo), and Wydad AC (Morocco).

Mamelodi Sundowns earned a crucial 2-0 first-leg victory away to Petro Atletico in Angola in their African Football League (AFL) quarter-final on Saturday. 

After a below-par performance in the first half, Masandawana got second-half goals from Marcelo Allende and Gift Maseko to take a commanding advantage back home for the second leg, where they would be expected to claim yet another win.

Their win avenged last season's Champions League exit to Petro and put the Brazilians on the brink of a semi-final spot.

“You have seen many things happen in football, you have seen teams come back from greater scorelines. We look forward to taking the scoreline to South Africa but we approach it as 0-0 and a different ball game,” Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena said in a press conference after the first leg game.

Despite his words, Mokwena will be confident his side can progress to the last four of the inaugural competition.
