Victor Osimhen is leaning towards an exit from Napoli and the player might now be in search of a new club once his current contract with the Serie A side runs out.

The Nigerian striker led Napoli to the Serie A title win last season scoring 26 goals and also played a part in the side reaching the last eight of the UEFA Champions League where they were bundled out by Milan.

Osimhen, 24, has continued to bang in the goals this season for Rudi Garcia's side but the recent run of events might push the striker out of the club and Italy altogether.

The striker was upset when Napoli posted two videos on TikTok mocking the player for his penalty miss against Bologna and another one which referred to him as a ‘coconut', which has been interpreted as a racially offensive term.

Osimhen is still under contract with Napoli until 2025, but he was visibly furious with the whole situation with the club's failure to apologise as they only waved off the claims.

Meanwhile, he released a statement afterwards stating his happiness to keep playing for the club but he has not signed a new deal with the Partenopei yet.

Reports have already linked him with a move away from the Italian champions next summer and there is no new update for now according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

What Fabrizio Romano said about Victor Osimhen's future

Romano has provided an update on the latest on Osimhen’s situation at Napoli, whilst also expressing the opinion that the 24-year-old is one of the top seven players in the world in his position.

“There are still discussions ongoing between Osimhen’s camp and Napoli, no decision made yet. It will continue in the next weeks to understand what’s going to happen,” Romano said.

“It will be interesting to see what happens with Osimhen from here as I’d say he is in the top seven strikers around the world. He perhaps still needs more top level European football experience and he was unlucky as injured in the first leg of quarter-final vs AC Milan last year, but I think he clearly has it in him to play at the very highest level.”

In addition, Romano believes that Victor Osimhen may likely leave Napoli at the end of the 2023-2024 season if he does not agree to a new deal within the next three months.

What Napoli and Victor Osimhen might be looking at

Osimhen remains one of the world's most prolific strikers and has already shown he is ready for the highest level when he led Napoli to a league triumph last season.

As reported by Calciomercato, Rudi Garcia's side has identified three potential options for their roster: Jesus from Arsenal, Jonathan David from Lille, and Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Osimhen got a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal last summer but Napoli were reluctant to do business. If Osimhen fails to extend his deal beyond the summer of 2025. He might be sold next summer.

A number of clubs like Arsenal, who are reportedly proposing a swap deal with Gabriel Jesus moving the other way, Chelsea, Tottenham are all interested in signing the Nigerian striker.
