Osimhen accused of ‘abducting’ sister by brother-in-law

Victor Osimhen has been accused of unlawfully arresting his elder sister over an ongoing legal battle between her husband and the Napoli striker.

Osimhen took to social media earlier this year to shade his elder sister Esther and her husband Osita Okolo over an alleged unpaid debt of €69,000 and $439,000.

Esther claimed the money was the commission Mr Okolo had received from Osimhen’s transfer when he departed Lille for his current employers Napoli.

“My brother, Victor Osimhen accused my husband of not helping us which is true,” Esther said in an interview.

“I had to borrow money to start a business that I am into right now – I am not saying he should help me because he said he won’t help me.

“There is no problem with that, what I want is for him to pay my husband his money. Even my other siblings don’t want to help us retrieve the money.

“I don’t want any problem, all I want is that Victor should give my husband his money because I know my husband worked for this money, there is evidence, but my family don’t want to see the truth.”

The situation between Osimhen and his brother-in-law has now escalated after the DSS authorities came to arrest Osimhen’s sister earlier this week.

Latest Osimhen controversy adds another twist to an already challenging period

Victor Osimhen enjoyed a near-perfect 2022-23 campaign where he led Napoli to a first Serie A title in over three decades, winning the league's golden boot en route.

However, the last couple of months have been somewhat of a downward spiral for Osimhen who was recently the centre of a social media controversy by his club Napoli in the aftermath of a missed penalty.

Osimhen also recently had a falling out with Napoli head coach Rudi Garcia, while his future at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium remains under heavy uncertainty.

The 24-year-old was hauled off with an injury scare while on international duty for Nigeria in Friday's 2-2 draw against Saudi Arabia, making him a doubt for Napoli's next outing against Verona.

Napoli are already seven points adrift of early pacesetters Inter Milan in the race for the Scudetto after the first eight rounds of matches.

If Napoli are to get themselves back on track following a relatively underwhelming start to the season, the reigning Italian champions will need their leading goalscorer in the right frame of mind.
