Manchester City Pip Chelsea 0-1 At The Bridge

Despite Chelsea's unwavering firmness of character defensively at home against Manchester City, Gabriel Jesus' lone goal was the difference as Pep Guardiola's side ended a winless run of three consecutive matches against The Blues.

Chelsea were completely dominated from the kick off giving away 67% of possession to the Cityzens at half time, but it was Edouard Mendy's heroics in the sticks that kept Chelsea in the game long enough before the lone and winning goal was scored.

The Blues showed some attacking threat around the quarter-hour mark, with a last-ditch intervention from João Cancelo thwarting Romelu Lukaku in the box.

However, they received a blow just before the half-hour, as Reece James was forced off after struggling with injury – being replaced by Thiago Silva, City's best chance fell to Gabriel Jesus five minutes before the break, after a wonderfully clipped ball from Phil Foden, but the Brazilian couldn't control his strike to hit the target – meaning there wasn't a single shot on goal all half.

Gabriel Jesus would make up for his first half miss in the 53rd minutes after carving out a chance for himself with neat footwork in the box before squeezing his effort through the crowd and into the bottom corner, via a deflection off Jorginho.

Tuchel's men in search for an equalizer almost conceded the second with a hundred million pounds Jack Grealish being denied by a brilliant Mendy save shortly before Jesus' attempt was cleared off the line by Silva.

Lukaku thought he'd equalised in the 63rd minute, but substitute Kai Havertz was offside in the build-up.

Another Rúben Dias block to see off an attempt from Mateo Kovačić in the 71st minute left Chelsea in search for the much-needed equalizer but unfortunately, it never came as City stood their ground to grind out the maximum points – making it the first time in the Premier League era City would record consecutive wins at the Bridge after last season's 1-3 defeat of The Blues.

Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel's side have now lost their unbeaten record in all competitions this term.
