Liverpool target Victor Osimhen to replace Firmino

Osimhen

Osimhen still has three years left on his contract at Napoli.

A shakeup looks imminent at Anfield, with Liverpool looking to freshen up the squad. Since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp, the club has been on an upward trajectory, but despite this, Jurgen Klopp has won just two titles with the club.

With Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah both at the Africa Cup of Nations, Liverpool have been able to keep up the pressure on Manchester City in the chase for the Premier League title. Diogo Jota, Takumi Minamino, Oxlade Chamberlain and Roberto Firmino have held the fort excellently, with Liverpool making it to the EFL Cup final against Chelsea.

The progress at Liverpool in the absence of the two stars seems to have given the club confidence that it is time to freshen the squad. Salah and Mane’s absence leaves the Anfield giants short in attack, and replacement for the future is needed.

Liverpool are targeting Napoli star in a summer move. Striker Victor Osimhen may join the Premier League giants in the summer.

Osimhen wanted at Liverpool

The trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah has served Liverpool conscientiously over the years. Liverpool may break up the attacking trident in the summer. The club may lose one of their forward players and are already in the market for a replacement.

Several names have come up in links to The Reds, but Super Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen seems favoured for an Anfield move. Liverpool sees the striker who missed out on the Africa Cup of nations due to a facial injury as a perfect replacement for Roberto Firmino.

Roberto Firmino has been an integral part of Liverpool successes in recent years.

The Brazilian has played a massive role since he joined Liverpool in 2015. Firmino was key to Liverpool winning the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

The Anfield giants are looking to bring in younger legs to replace him, with Victor Osimhen the target.

Staying true to their policy

Liverpool made just made a signing in January with the acquisition of Luis Diaz from Porto. The arrival of Diaz means that Liverpool can stay true to the owners model with the likely departure of either Firmino or Mane.

Liverpool intend to replace one of the two forwards who have hit the 30-year range with a younger player. Fichajes via Liverpool Echo reports Victor Osimhen, who is only 23, is on the cards to join Liverpool should Firmino leave in the summer.

Osimhen has turned up in the past as one of Liverpool’s targets, and the latest news has not come as a surprise. A move for the Nigerian forward failed to materialize when he was at OSC Lille before he joined Napoli for an African record.

If Liverpool hope to sign the Nigerian striker, they will have to dig deep into their pocket to engage his services as Osimhen still has three years left on his contract at Napoli.

The quest for the Nigerian forward may end up in a bidding war, with reports suggesting that Newcastle and Arsenal are in the hunt for the striker.
