Chelsea are the hosts of this game and the home advantage they will enjoy in the start of a new era will push them to get the first goal. Their hosts will fight back to seal all three points, however, but it will be a battle that both sets of fans will appreciate as an excellent season opener.

With the exception of Bayern Munich and Greuther Fürth, Liverpool won all their pre-season matches. They also seem to have found their scoring boots once again, with none of their matches seeing them score less than three goals.
