UEFA Men’s Player Of The Year: Messi, Ronaldo Omitted From Top 3 Nominees

Serial winners Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have been omitted from nomination for the top three 2020/21 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award.

UEFA announced Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Chelsea’s duo of N’golo Kante and Jorginho as the contenders for the 2020/2021 Men’s Player of the Year award, in a statement on Thursday,

Newly acquired PSG forward Messi, who featured for Barcelona last season, came 4th in the nominations with 148 points, while Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski came 5th with 140 points.

AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma came 6th with 49 points, Kylian Mbappé of Paris St-Germain 7th with 31 points, while City’s Raheem Sterling came 8th with 18 points.

Ronaldo and Borussia Dortmund youngster Erling Haaland ranked 9th and 10th respectively.

The winner of the award will be announced on August 26.
