Nottingham Forest frontman and Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi is enjoying his football at the moment. With two goals in two games this season, he is among the top scorers in the Premier League at the moment.

If you extend his form beyond this season, Awoniyi has scored eight goals in six league games for Nottingham Forest dating back to last season.

He is one of the in-form strikers in Europe and doesn't look like stopping his hot streak anytime soon.

With the amount of money good strikers go for in the transfer market in recent times, Forest should count themselves to have been able to sign Awoniyi for just £17.5 million from Union Berlin.

Up next for the red hot striker and his team are Manchester United at Old Trafford. The Red Devils will host Forest on Saturday afternoon in what is expected to be an exciting encounter.

Forest will be relying heavily on their striker who is in good form and Awoniyi himself will be hoping to join an exclusive club of Nigerian players who have scored at Old Trafford.

Who are some of the other players that have achieved this feat? Have a look at them below.

Kelechi Iheanacho

The former FIFA U-17 World champion and one of Nigeria’s best exports to Europe in recent years is one of the players who have been able to achieve this feat.

The 26-year-old has a pretty impressive record against Manchester United with four goals and three assists in 10 games against the Red Devils. At the Theatre of Dreams, he has scored two times in the Premier League

The first of those was in the 2016/2017 season where he scored and assisted for Manchester City in their 2-1 win against the Red Devils.

The second of those was in a 1-1 draw against United in the 2021/2022 season. His goal was a brilliant diving header to cap off a transition move and secure a point for the foxes.

He may be playing in the Championship right now with Leicester but United would be wary of facing Iheanacho in any cup games this season.

Yakubu Aiyegbeni

It would not be far-fetched to suggest that Yakubu Aiyegbeni is one of the most underrated Premier League strikers of all time. Across four Clubs, Yakubu scored 96 Premier League goals, just four short from being in the 100 club and he was prolific outside England as well.

His record against Manchester United is impressive as well with the former Super Eagles international scoring five times against Manchester United in all competitions.

At Old Trafford, he inspired Blackburn Rovers to a monumental 3-2 victory at Old Trafford in 2012 with two goals in the match.

Awoniyi also chasing a club record

Apart from setting his name in the Nigerian record books, he is also close to setting a club record for Forest. If he scores against United at Old Trafford, it will be his seventh consecutive League goal scored for the team which will beat Stan Collymore’s record for goals scored in consecutive League games which was set in 1996.

Another player who could make a name for himself in the match is Emmanuel Dennis. He is on the fringes of the Forest team but he has enough talent to score against United if given the opportunity.
