Under-fire Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has squashed the possibility of selling striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer.
Following a huge sum of £130million spent this summer on transfers by the North Londoners this summer, the club is seeking to offload several members and there are speculations that the club is willing to listen to offers for their leading striker.
Aubameyang, 32, was tremendous for Arteta on Wednesday; scoring a hat-trick in Arsenal's pummelling of West Brom by 6-0 in their Carabao Cup second-round tie at the Hawthorns.
The Gabon international has notched 64 goals in 115 Premier League games for the Gunners since arriving from Borussia Dortmund for a club-record £56 million in January 2018 but struggled during preseason and missed Arsenal's opener against Brentford after testing positive for COVID-19.
Arteta in a news conference on Thursday confirmed that Aubameyang will stay at the club at least for this season. “Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is our player and he will remain here.”
Aubameyang is expected to start when Arsenal visit City on Saturday but there are doubts over the availability of winger Bukayo Saka, who picked up a knock against West Brom, and Arteta's new defender, Ben White who also tested positive for COVID-19.
