Crystal Palace and Arsenal draw the curtain on round two of the 2023–24 Premier League season with a meeting at Selhurst Park on Monday. The kickoff time is 20:00 BST.

Roy Hodgson’s men got their league campaign off to a perfect start thanks to a 1-0 victory over newly-promoted Sheffield United, while Mikel Arteta’s men fended off the challenge of Nottingham Forest in a 2-1 win.

Crystal Palace were a tad unlucky to have only scored one goal in their season-opener against Sheffield United last time out. The Eagles dominated proceedings for large spells of the game but had to wait until the 49th minute to break the deadlock thanks to a superb delivery from Jordan Ayew, which was finished by Odsonne Edouard.

Arsenal flew out of the blocks in their clash against Forest last time out, as they went into the interval with a two-goal lead following Eddie Nketiah’s opener and a wonder goal from Bukayo Saka. The Gunners were seemingly in cruise control until Taiwo Awoniyi pulled one back to set up a frantic finale.

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal team news

Michael Olise, who recently snubbed a move to Chelsea to commit his long-term future to Palace, remains unavailable due to a thigh injury.

Matheus Franca and Will Hughes are also unavailable for the away side through muscle and knee injuries, respectively.

Arsenal boast a longer list of absentees heading into this one, with Mohamed Elneny, Gabriel Jesus, Jurrien Timber, Folarin Balogun, Albert Lokonga, and Oleksandr Zinchenko all expected to miss out.

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal – Players to watch

Bukayo Saka

Saka has been directly involved in eight goals in his last seven matches for club and country, making the winger one to keep an eye on.

Odsonne Edouard

Edouard heads into Monday’s clash having netted in consecutive games for Crystal Palace for only the first time since last October. In the absence of Wilfried Zaha and Olise, the striker is slowly developing a partnership with Jordan Ayew up front.

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal predictions

Prediction 1: Arsenal to win

Arsenal won both of their two meetings against Crystal Palace by a combined score of 6-1 last time out, and we fancy the north Londoners to get the better of their city rivals once again.

Prediction 2: Over 1.5 goals

All but one of the last 22 editions of this fixture across all competitions have yielded at least two goals, and given the firepower on display, we fully expect the trend to continue here.

Prediction 3: Bukayo Saka to score

Saka was a real thorn in Palace’s flesh during the last encounter, racking up two goals and an assist. The 21-year-old wasted no time picking up where he left off last season following a stunning strike against Forest, and we can see him getting on the scoresheet once again.

Crystal Palace recent form

Crystal Palace endured a mixed pre-season campaign, having won three and lost three of their seven outings, but the Eagles are now unbeaten in eight straight league outings, picking up five wins and three draws.

Arsenal recent form

Since a 2-0 defeat against Manchester United in pre-season, Arsenal have recorded four straight victories, albeit two of them coming via penalties.
