Dani Carvajal Strike Earns Real Madrid Vital Win Over Betis

Real Madrid pipped Real Betis by a lone goal to go top of the table all thanks to a strike from fullback, Dani Carvajal.

Ancelotti's side have earned seven points in the season's first three matches so far and on Saturday again, Dani Carvajal's second-half goal gave Real Madrid a 1-0 win at Real Betis to move to the summit of the LaLiga.

Ancelotti, who returned to the club in the wake of Zinedine Zidane's resignation, has ensured that the 2021/2022 season started on the brightest note possible for the Los Blancos.

Both teams looked dangerous early on, with Betis goalkeeper Rui Silva making a good save from Madrid defender Eder Militao in the seventh minute.

Shortly afterwards, Thibaut Courtois had to get down smartly to fend off a Nabil Fekir's long range effort.

Later in the second half, barely ten minutes after the resumption, Karim Benzema had his goal ruled out for offside -But the visitors would break the deadlock just after the hour mark through the unlikely source of Carvajal.

Vinicius Junior did well to keep the ball in play before right-back Carvajal volleyed home Benzema's cross.

In search for an equalizer, Manuel Pellegrini's Betis side almost made David Alaba spin the ball into his own net shortly after Carvajal's goal.

Later on, Eden Hazard came on as a late substitute Real Madrid closed out a Betis equalizer for the narrow win.

Betis are now winless in three matches after opening the season with two draws against Mallorca and Cadiz respectively.
