Samuel Chukwueze’s future has been one of the hottest topics of the transfer window this summer. The Super Eagles star has made several transfer headlines in the past month and has been linked to some of the very best clubs on the continent who want to sign the player.

Clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa have all been rumored to want the highly rated winger with the biggest team on that list being 14 time UEFA Champions League winners, Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are currently building the team and putting together a squad of young players who will be the Galacticos of the next decade and Chukwueze, 24, could be one they would like to add. It was reported tbat Real Madrid's president, Florentino Perez was interested in having the player form a wing pairing with Vinicius Junior, forming a deadly combo in attack.

Roig denies Real Madrid contact

Despite Real Madrid interest, the President of Villareal, Fernando Roig Alfonso has gone on record to say that the Madrid side have not contacted the Yellow Submarine over a potential deal for the winger.

In his interview with Marca, he discussed the Chukwueze situation as well as links with Nicholas Jackson, another player who could be on the move in the summer. “(Jackson) has a release clause of around €40m at the moment, and there are other players like Samu (Chukwueze). Jackson is an example of a player who was on the verge of leaving in the winter, but circumstances prevented it. He has demonstrated his value with exceptional performances and goals. We currently have no news regarding Real Madrid’s interest in Chukwueze,” said Alfonso.

What does Chukwueze have to say about the Madrid Links?

Back in May, Chukwueze addressed the speculation regarding his future as well as links to Madrid. He spoke about his appreciation for Villareal and his intention to stay at the club and play in Europe with them.

“That’s just noise. My dream is to play again in Europe with Villarreal. I have a contract until 2024, and I hope not to be free. The Roigs have behaved very well with me. They are like my family. The right thing is for me to leave good money in this club.”

If his words in this interview are anything to go by, then we should expect the Super Eagles forward to be a part of the Yellow Submarine next year. If he does get sold, it will be for a huge profit which will benefit Villareal.

Chukuwueze enjoyed a fantastic 2022/2023 campaign where he scored six goals and provided five assists in La Liga to go with dazzling performances. He was named the African Player of the season in the Spanish La Liga for all his efforts last season. He is currently on international duty with the Super Eagles and will be looking to help them qualify for AFCON 2023 which takes place in Ivory Coast next year.
