Akwa United suffered a 5-3 away defeat to Bayelsa United in their last outing, where a Robert Mizo hattrick inspired the south coast side to a big victory. Oguntayo Seyi got a double for Akwa United in that game and coach Fatai and his men will now look to pick up their first win of the season at home.
Sporting Lagos, meanwhile, started their first season in the topflight with a 2-0 win over Gombe United last Monday, Rivio Ayemwenre and Clement Naantaum scored either side of the half as the newest side in the NPFL got their campaign on a good note.

Prediction 1: Akwa United to win
Coach Fatai will take charge of only his second game for Akwa United as his side search for their first win of the season. It's important to know that the Uyo based club have been unbeaten in their last eight home games, winning seven and drawing one. Considering that the team scored three last week in Bayelsa and how new Sporting Lagos is to Nigerian football, an away defeat looks certain for Paul Offor's men.
Prediction 2: Both teams to score
Akwa United have conceded in two of their last three home games; they also failed to keep a clean sheet in their first game of the NPFL season, casting doubt on their defensive game. While a penalty miss deep into added time by Gombe United ensured Sporting Lagos didn't concede yet, it's worth mentioning that they're not very strong defensively.
