Solskjaer Finally Dumps David De Gea Over Too Many Blunder

Manchester United face West Ham at home tomorrow, with a top-four place in their own hands.

But with keeper David De Gea’s form and confidence shot after Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final horror show, boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to turn to No 2 Sergio Romero.

Romero, 33, watched on as De Gea literally handed Chelsea a 3-1 victory.

The 29-year old De Gea was at fault for each goal, most notably when Mason Mount hit a low shot from distance that squirmed through his hands.

They were the latest in a series of blunders.

And former United midfielder Paul Ince has blasted the Spaniard for becoming complacent.

Ince told Paddy Power: “What we’re seeing from De Gea at the minute are basic, schoolboy errors. They are errors that someone on his wage and at his level simply should not be making.

“Romero only plays once in a blue moon. The manager needs to create a bit of a challenge and competition at the club.

“De Gea knows there’s no challenger to him and he’s playing like someone who knows that.”

Solskjaer has repeatedly defended his No 1 but even he lost patience on Sunday with the Mount goal in particular.

He said: “He knows he should save that one 100 times out of 100.”
