Arteta Confirms David Luiz May Have Played His Last Game For Arsenal

Arsenal’s boss Mikel Arteta has revealed that David Luiz may require surgery on a knee injury picked up in training.

The manager, after his side’s comprehensive 3-0 defeat to Liverpool, admitted it was unclear whether the defender would play again this season.

Luiz will also be out of contract in the summer so it is likely he may have played his last game for the club. Arteta said:

“We are talking with the doctors right now to make the right decision on that, but looks like he will be out for a few weeks at least.

Asked if the Brazilian is likely to feature again before the end of the campaign, Arteta said, “I don’t know”

“It depends on what decision we will take. If it's more conservative it will be short-term, if it's a little bit more radical what he needs, obviously it will take longer.”
