KAA Gent‘s superstar forward, Gift Orban has been one of the names in transfer headlines and blogs at different points in this summer due to interest from different top clubs across Europe.

Recently, the team which has emerged as favorites for his signature are Premier League giants, Tottenham Hotspur. The North London side who just lost their all time top scorer, club captain and arguably their greatest ever player in Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in a deal worth an initial £86m fee, alongside some add-ons taking the price close to £100m.

The striker was entering his final year of his contract and at 30, it was a very good price they were able to accrue for him.

With Harry Kane gone, Spurs are in search of a new striker to help usher in a new era at the London club under new manager Ange Postecoglu. They submitted a bid worth €27 million to the Belgian giants as they tried to secure the services of high-flying Gift Orban as their striker for the future.

Their bid was not enough, though as was rebiffed by the rejected by Gent, although the English side are not too far away from reaching an agreement.

Gent reportedly value their star player €30 million (£25.9 million) plus add-ons and see that as the price as which they would want to sell the Nigerian. This may come as good news to Spurs as it looks like they just need to offer Gent a bit more money in order to bring Orban to the Premier League.

Selling Kane may convince Orban to move

With the sale of Kane, Gift Orban will see an opening to make a move away from Gent and fulfil his dream to play in the Premier League. He will also get the opportunity to become the main man on the team and the first choice striker.

With goal return of Richarlison last season, he has every chance of being a starter straight away and also boost his chances of making AFCON 2023 with the Super Eagles.

Gent will most probably not budge from their valuation but looking at he current striker market an the prices that strikers are valued (fellow Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen is valued at close to €200 million for example, Spurs will do well to go for a young talent that is still developing and will move for a cheaper price than usual.

This season, Orban has started like a house on fire with three goals in five games in all competitions. He scored the third hat trick of his Gent career in the UEFA Europa conference League qualifier against MSK Zilina.

If fans thought his emergence would just be a one season wonder, Orban is already proving his doubters wrong. He is a young and hungry striker that would be great for a Spurs shde during their rebuild.

They have reportedly also shown interest in Lille striker Jonathan David and some reports state that they may be preparing to make an offer for the Canadian.

So far, they have only made one confirmed bid for Orban and their interest in the player is not thought to be over. They would do well to pursue Orban, who has a higher ceiling than David even though he has less experience
