Horoya vs Medeama build-up: How both teams got to this stage
Horoya vs Medeama is an important game for both sets of fans.
Medeama started their 2023/24 season with a bang, showing many fans that their triumph over Ghana’s best in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season was not a fluke. They won the Ghana Super Cup before going on to thrash the Guinean club at their 12,000-capacity Abrankese Stadium in Kumasi. Since that win, however, they have been unable to muster much, as they are bottom of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League table.
It is still early days as the season is only two games in, which is why this second-leg match against Horoya in the CAF Champions League second preliminary rounds is a breath of fresh air for the club’s manager.

The first leg was a dominant performance from the Mauve and Yellows. Both teams played out a first-half goalless draw. The Guinean side were resolute in their defence and conservative in their attack, making sure to not commit too many errors to give them an advantage in the second leg which will be played in Conakry.
Medeama ruined those plans in the second half, scoring the first of their three goals in the second minute of the second half. By the 70th minute, the Ghanaian side were three goals up and headed for a big win.
However, Horoya came back to score in the 89th minute to grab a lifeline ahead of the second leg in Conakry.
Horoya vs Medeama on 30 September 2023 is already marred with controversy, thanks to alleged ill-treatment of the Ghanaian side according to Medeama coach Augustine Adotey. He will have to look past that in order to help his team make the group stage of the CAF Champions League and build momentum for their league title defence.
